PLIGHT OF ETHIOPIAN REFUGEES IN CHAD

Ethiopian refugees who have been deprived of their status by an arbitrary UNHCR decision and consequently subjected to a relentless harassment by the Sudanese authorities have been forced to trek to Chad and other neighboring countries to escape persecution. Two of the Ethiopian refugees who had fled to the Sudan were imprisoned and subjected to harsh handling by the authorities in Ndjamena.

The refugees are: 1. Mohamed Ahmed Tahir and (2) Tadelu Kebede Demisie.

SOCEPP calls on the UNHCR in Ndjamena to give proper protection to the refugees and appeals to the Chadian authorities to end their mistreatment of the Ethiopian reugees who are seeking asylum and protection in Chad.

SOCEPP calls on Ethiopians in the Diaspora to write protest letters to the UNHCR
