DECEMBER 13/2008 DECEMBER 13--REMEMBER THE MASSACRE IN GAMBELLA! Five years ago in Gambella, the security forces, soldiers and armed
militia of the Meles Zenawi regime went on rampage in Gambella and
massacred more than 450 Anuaks. The persons responsible for this carnage
are Meles Zenawi, the regime's prime minister, Dr. Barnabas and Abaye
Tsehaye from the Federal Affairs ministry and commanders on the ground. None of the guilty has been brought before a court of law. No
independent investigation or inquiry has been made. The blood of innocent
Anuaks continue to call for justice. The regime has become obdurate and
accompanied this massacre with worse atrocities in the Ogaden. The
isolated and detested ethnic based regime refuses to respect the rule of
law, to accept that one ethnic rule is bankrupt and that the violation of
human rights a travesty of justice. The Gambella massacre was a deliberate
carnage ordered from aove and systematically carried out with brutality
and cruelty. The perpetrators must be brought before a proper court of law
and the incident must be exposed for all to know, observe and pay homage
to the martyrs. SOCEPP remembers the Anuak victims of the December 13/2003 massacre and calls for lawful action against the perpetrators of this violence. Meles Zenawi and his cohorts must be brought before a court of law for this crime against the people. INJUSTICE
